PCC Soldier Moms are Born !!

We’ve gained another name!! We’re also known as the PCC Soldier Moms – to a group of wonderful soldiers serving in Baghdad.  It started from a small beginning, and like the magic beanstalk, grew and grew…

PCC Soldier Moms now send weekly letters to 20 soldiers and regular care parcels to the unit.  Local children send us cards & letters to forward to our boys and the local papers have given us publicity to help our efforts. Donations are coming in from friends and the general public to help us continue our efforts until the end of their 12-month tour in Iraq.  We have also been blessed with tremendous support from Gryphon Securities, a local defense contractor.  We entertained them at their Christmas Party, as a big thank you for the $1000 they had previously given us, and were all brought to tears when Gryphon’s President, Michael Vaden, presented us with a second $1000 after our performance!!

We recorded our one-hour Christmas show at Barefoot Bay for our soldiers’ Christmas stockings.  Ice cream took on a new flavor as we sang to the customers at the new “Ben and Jerry’s” in Melbourne where owner,  Matt Solomon, personally donated $200 PLUS a portion of the evening’s profits.  And we tried to make Valentine’s Day a little easier for the soldiers by sending phone cards to help them talk to their sweethearts.

Platinum Coast Chorus has had many compliments about the spirit within our group:  how caring and supportive of each other we are and how welcoming and friendly we are to visitors. We are now sharing that love with our boys in Baghdad and pray that they will all come home safely.
